Martina (Tina) Harris - Executive Director

Tina graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood. She obtained a Master’s of Science specializing in Mathematics from Wheelock University. She taught in both the public and private school system and, from September 2002 until June 2018 was the Head of Primary at The Bermuda High School for Girls. Upon retiring from that position, she opened her own business providing educational tutoring and coaching for private clients. She is responsible for the overall running of The Reading Clinic, working in collaboration with the Programme and Assessment Directors, The Reading Clinic Board of Directors and Trustees, Donors and Parents to ensure that our neurodiverse learners receive the services they need in order to Learn. Grow. Soar.

DeAndrea Easton - Office Manager

DeAndrea joined the staff of The Reading Clinic in 2016.  She comes to us with a wealth of practical administrative experience, particularly in the non-profit sector.  She owned her own consulting company and has done administrative and bookkeeping work for organisations such as PRIDE, The Bermuda Community Foundation and IAC to name a few. DeAndéa recently completed her training as a Reading Programme tutor.

Dr. Darrien Ray - Psychologist/Assessment Director

Darrien is a Registered Psychologist in Bermuda. He has a Doctorate of Psychology Degree (Psy.D.) from the American School of Psychology in Tampa, Florida. Prior to joining The Reading Clinic in 2014, he worked as a licensed clinical psychologist at a community mental health centre in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where he worked with children and families that had a variety of backgrounds. Darrien has extensive experience conducting psycho-educational and clinical evaluations for both children and adults. His key responsibilities at The Reading Clinic include supervision of a team of diagnosticians who assess and provide intervention recommendations for new client referrals.

Juliet Pearman - ICAN Math Programme Director

Juliet graduated from UNCG with an undergraduate degree in Child Development and Family Relations and obtained her Master’s degree in Education from Wheelock College.  She brings a wealth of experience in working with children: for 9 years she helped families and children with developmental difficulties in an early childhood intervention programme and served as an elementary classroom teacher for 11 years. She began tutoring in the Reading Clinic’s math programme in 2007 and in 2009 she became the ICAN Math Coordinator. Juliet is responsible for the day to day operations of the math program. She provides the tutor training, and is responsible for administering the initial math screening and end of year tests.

Amy Da Costa - Core Reading Programme Director

Amy joined The Reading Clinic in 2010.  She holds a master’s degree in Early Childhood Studies with a focus on Teaching and Diversity. She achieved her status as a Fellow - the highest membership status available - of the Orton-Gillingham Academy in 2018. Amy has worked with The Reading Clinic since 2010 as a tutor, I-PLAY instructor and programme assistant. In 2013, she became the Core Reading Programme Director. She currently oversees the Core Reading Programme, providing tutor training, observations, end of year assessments and educational workshops, as well as managing the day-to-day logistics of the programme.

Gelena Thompson - I-PLAY Director

Gelena has been supporting students with learning differences as a Reading Tutor since 2018. She has worked extensively with children of various ages within the Primary and Middle school system. In addition to her role as a Reading Tutor, Gelena served as an I-PLAY Instructor, working with preschool-aged children through our play-based early literacy program. With a growing focus on early literacy, she now leads the day-to-day operations of the I-PLAY program, helping young learners build foundational reading skills.

Gelena holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Victoria and is currently pursuing Certified Level Membership with the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators. She is passionate about creating a supportive and joyful learning environment that nurtures a lifelong love of reading in every child.

Stacey Kyme – Assistant Director of The Core reading Programme

Stacey trained as a Reading Tutor in 2012, and still enjoys tutoring and working with students one-on-one. She is also a Mentor Tutor to new, incoming tutors. Stacey has taught small-group interventions at St. Paul’s Preschool, as part of our I-Play Programme. She has also assisted in facilitating Experience Dyslexia® workshops. Stacey comes to The Reading Clinic with a B.F.A from American InterContinental University and is working towards her Certified Level Membership with the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators.

Jill Waddington – Admin Assistant

Jill Waddington is an experienced tutor and admin assistant at The Reading Clinic where she has made significant contributions since 2001. Starting her journey as a reading tutor, she expanded her expertise to math tutoring in 2007. After taking a brief hiatus for motherhood, although, still involved in educational projects through The Reading Clinic (ie ReFlexions - A Gov't Preschool Project for critical thinking and problem solving), she returned in July 2025 to take on an administrative role as well as tutoring in math through the ICAN programme. Jill holds a Bachelor of Education from Acadia University (Nova Scotia, Canada) which she earned in 1996. She moved to the island that same year, beginning her career as a nanny. Shortly after, Jill took on a role as Educational Coordinator with The Family Learning Center and then as a substitute teacher at Saltus Jr. School.
